Welcome to Renzulli Learning’s Spotlight on Sources, some of our most engaging resources to excite and inspire your students!
Summer offers a unique opportunity for students to work on ongoing projects that they are truly interested in! This week we bring you weekly activities that are all centered around Projects and Independent Studies! Students can explore these activities for inspiration to dig even deeper. Have your students start a Super Starter Project in My Projects OR Create Their Own. Looking for more inspiration? Browse Projects & Independent Study in My Enrichment Activities.
Once students complete their projects, set up a Summer Virtual Fair where your students can share all of their projects with each other. Students will be able to continue working on skills and critical thinking throughout the summer.

Boat Building Challenge

The oldest known boats were built around 6,000 B.C., although it's believed that these vessels may have existed 800,000 years ago! Regardless of when they were built, the first boats were constructed using the same principles as the boats that you see today. Build your own sailboat and experiment with such scientific principles as gravity, displacement, buoyancy, density, and friction. Find out how fast your boat can sail and how much cargo it can carry!
Make a Scribbling Machine

Scribbling machines are motorized contraptions that move in unusual ways and leave a mark to trace their paths. They are made from simple materials and set in motion by a vibrating offset motor causing them to bounce, spin, bump and move in interesting ways. Would you like to make one?
